this is lovely <3

[ Stede has grown, if he is being honest, painfully accustomed to having Ed there, just within reach and reach for him to touch or speak to whenever he'd like.

When they'd first started on this strange endeavour of theirs he had been a little put out at times, a little unsure of his footing when it came to balancing what he knew of Edward Teach with the captaincy of Blackbeard, but things had slipped into place almost too easily. It was familiar, accustomed, now, and he was happy to turn to speak to Ed, to share a secret with him, to drag him this way and that to experience of much of the world as possible.

It was more than he had ever dared to dream, and Stede is living in a world far beyond his imagination. He is happier than he had ever thought that he might be, and to pin it all on Ed seems a little silly, but the reality is that it's true.

There's a moment of pause and shock when Ed does come to his door, begging a bath and a proper session of taking care of his hair, but Stede isn't one to break promises (not these days, at least, he thinks guilty) and he welcomes the other man inside with a flourish. He's dressed in one of his fine silk gowns ready to settle down for the evening with a good book, but he flutters around to gather his little boxes and to ponder about getting hot water at this time.

Putting the box down, he immediately pours Ed a drink and pushes it into his hand. ]

Did you want a full bath, or just for me to take care of the top bit? [ He motions to Ed's hair absently, head tilted and expression curious, reading. ] It'll have to be a little cold, I'm afraid. I don't think we could convince Wee John to start sorting out the water right now.
